Parting Blade SPB
The SPB parting blade is a slim parting-off blade for use with SP indexable carbide inserts, enabling grooving widths from 2 to 5 mm – designed for clean parting and precise grooving with minimal material loss. Whether in series production or with varying individual parts, this parting blade delivers the rigidity that is critical for smooth cuts even at greater parting depths.
The operating principle impresses through simplicity and reliability: the 150° installation angle of the insert pocket uses the cutting force to self-clamp the SP grooving insert in position – the higher the load, the tighter the hold. This provides security against insert displacement, particularly during interrupted cuts or when parting large diameters. The narrow blade width from 1.6 mm keeps the interference contour small and creates space for clean chip evacuation. With compatibility to SP200 through SP500 indexable carbide inserts, different grooving widths and cutting geometries can be served from one blade system. The two blade heights of 26 and 32 mm fit into standard SMBB clamping blocks and integrate seamlessly into existing tooling setups.
