The MVUNR/L tool holder with a 95° approach angle is a contour-capable indexable insert holder for turning operations where profile clearance and accessibility are the top priority. Designed for all VN.. indexable carbide inserts with rhombic 35° geometry, this turning tool reaches tight angles and pointed contour areas on the workpiece that holders with wider insert forms can no longer access.
The combination of a 95° approach angle and the 35° nose angle of the VN insert creates a wide clearance area that enables copy turning, profile turning, and machining of contour-rich workpieces. The 95° approach angle ensures that the minor cutting edge remains clear of the machined surface during shoulder turning – extending tool life and improving surface quality at the shoulder transition. Unlike holders with screw clamping, the MVUNR/L uses a lever clamping system that generates higher clamping forces and leaves the rake face completely clear. This pays off during medium to heavy machining, where secure insert clamping and unobstructed chip evacuation are equally important. The body, made from heat-treated tool steel, provides the rigidity that ensures stable cutting conditions despite the delicate 35° cutting geometry – even during interrupted cuts.
