Turning Tool Holder SVQCR/L 117.5°, Indexable Insert Holder, Lathe Tool
£27.68
Available, delivery time: 1-3 days
- SVQCR/L turning tool holder with 117.5° approach angle for longitudinal and face turning with particularly shallow cutting force application – the large approach angle distributes forces over a long cutting edge contact zone and stabilises the process at high depths of cut
- Quenched and tempered tool steel body for high bending stiffness and low-vibration turning even under heavy cutting conditions
- Compatible with all VC.. indexable inserts in 35° rhombic geometry – the pointed insert shape enables good contour accessibility despite the shallow approach angle
- Screw clamping for defined clamping force, reproducible insert positioning and quick insert changes without readjustment
- Available in right-hand (SVQCR) and left-hand (SVQCL) versions for bilateral machining strategies and flexible workpiece accessibility
- 117.5° approach angle directs the majority of cutting forces axially into the shank – this relieves the radial direction and protects thin-walled or unstable workpieces
- Two usable cutting edges per VC indexable insert with broad availability of carbide grades and chip breaker geometries on the market

Turning Tool Holder SVQCR/L 117.5°, Indexable Insert Holder, Lathe Tool
The SVQCR/L tool holder with a 117.5° approach angle is a turning tool for users who need maximum cutting stability and a strongly axially oriented force introduction. Designed for all VC.. indexable carbide inserts with rhombic 35° geometry, this tool holder combines the accessibility of a pointed insert with the process stability of a particularly shallow approach angle. The 117.5° approach angle directs the predominant portion of cutting forces axially into the shank, significantly reducing the radial load on both holder and workpiece. This makes the SVQCR/L the preferred choice when turning long, slender workpieces or thin-walled components where radial forces would cause deflection or vibration. At the same time, the shallow angle distributes the machining work over a long contact zone on the main cutting edge – reducing the localised cutting edge load and positively influencing tool life. The body, made from heat-treated tool steel, provides the rigidity for smooth cutting even at high depths of cut. The screw clamping system secures the VC insert precisely and enables quick changes. Despite the shallow approach angle, the 35° nose angle of the indexable carbide insert maintains a usable contour area that extends beyond pure longitudinal turning operations.
The SVQCR/L is particularly recommended where radial forces must be minimised – for unstable workpieces, long turning lengths, or wherever deflection and chatter compromise the process. Scope of delivery: 1 SVQCR/L holder (without indexable carbide insert) incl. screw and wrench.
